Testing Your Finished ProductsHOW TO TEST YOUR FINISHED PRODUCTS FOR MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION While formulators should always use a very sanitary process when formulating and be very considerate of using fresh ingredients from only trusted suppliers, there are sometimes things that can contaminate product. Many early bacteria cannot be seen by the human eye and thus cannot be seen in or on a finished product. The only way to ensure that your process is sanitary and your preservative is holding up initially is to have your product tested. I cannot recommend highly enough Cindy Jones, pHd of Sagescript Institute. I'm happy to call her a friend and pleased to recommend her for these services. Microbiologic Services Sagescript Institute offers microbiology testing of cosmetics and toiletries. Tests available are the two most important assays: Aerobic plate count - enumeration of bacteria present in a sample Fungal/yeast count - enumeration of fungi or yeast present in a sample Testing your cosmetics in this way can assure you that you have a safe product to sell. Cindy Jones comes very highly recommended. She does testing on products at very reasonable prices.
